3004 Max Wont Shift

My father told me that yesterday his 2004 max wouldnt past 15 mph. He said that he tried to use the tiptronic as well but it lead to the same outcome. Ill be down from ct tomorrow to check it out myself. Does anyone know what may cause this besides a bad transmission? Car has about 135k and never gave him trouble before. Thanks guys

how about revving ? does it rev out causing transmission "slip" ? or does it not "accelerate"
Also do you have SE or SL 4spd auto or 5 spd auto ?
Common issues were bad valve bodies, solenoid would pack up with debris from transmission or bad throttle body which would cause the car to not rev out.

Mass air flow sensor usually. If not could be throttle body. Scan for check engine codes first

My max did the same thing on occasion and it was the speed sensor that caused the problem.
