Re: Automatic Transmition MOD's?
What's the condition of your current transmission? Take that into consideration before modding a transmission that may already be on its way out.

In that case he's better off getting a rebuild with warranty. Some transmission shops are willing to install the Transgo Kit as well and still warranty it. A buddy of mine recently got it done. The total labor of the Transgo Kit was $375. Didn't include fluid or kit itself.

I love built auto. You will be fine with a Transgo Shift Kit and Tranny cooler. Its cost effective and won't drain your pockets. Now for bulletproofing and valve body upgrades etc... start saving up now. lol

Re: Automatic Transmition MOD's?
i went with the level ten stage 3, upgraded vavlebody, cooler, 3500rpm high stall convertor, and the car drove very well. except if i was on a hill it would roll like a stick which was kind of cool, and it chirped every gear like a stick. nothing like a built auto.

Hay cmax. I've seen your replies and interest in built autos. I've got a 6th gen 4sp auto. It's got a slight slip from 1st to 2nd gear and I'm wanting to strengthen it to handle Abit of thrashing and wheel spin. What would u recommend as to do to make it stronger. Is your box standard except for your converter and valve body-cooler? Cheers kurt

Those trannies have a history of problems. A lot of people just go with the swap instead Chernmax built his and it still failed

I guess he meant the 5spd Auto Tranny that the 6thgen has, if its a 4speed just get a transgo shift kit. Or buy another low mileage 4spd tranny from a 5.5gen and then install the trango shift kit to make it stronger and add a tranny cooler while you're at it. And you should be fine. Or just buy a level 10 and save the headaches all together.

Cheers mate. Yeh I knew the 5sp were fucked. But the 4sp pritty good. I've got a 6th gen 4sp is the 4sp from the 5.5 gen better? I've already got a cooler so I'll look at a trango kit.

Re: Automatic Transmition MOD's?
I never knew the 6thgen had a 4spd, I thought it was just a 5spd auto and a 6spd manual. Then they got rid of both and dropped in the boring CVT..

Re: Automatic Transmition MOD's?
Well for starters a valvebody upgrade and cooler should get you started. I dont know much about the transgo kit, but it all depends on what you plan on doing to the car. Upgrading your tranny really doesnt make it faster, it allows it to transmit more power to the ground faster.

I never cared for the 6thgen, its a boat with wheels. Thank you for being a smart ass. I do know however that 6thgen seats can fit into a 4thgen in which I'm planning on doing that myself.
