04 Rotors on a 02
I bought 04 stock sized slotted rotors, has anyone done this before? I ran into some trouble putting em in today, the rotors seem too deep... I dont know if I can remove the dust cover or whatever...
Any ideas how to get these to fit?

Re: 04 Rotors on a 02
You need calipers and brackets from an 04 to fit those rotors. I have them on my 4th gen with 03 wheels. the braking is great. The dust covers come off at the hub or you can cut them off higher. Someone here is selling calipers and brackets for a good price.

Re: 04 Rotors on a 02
Sorry Mod for the wrong section,
I have rear calipers for em and new caliper frames but do I just cut the shield off or do I have to remove the hub and then completely remove the shield?
I cut it back with a ginder but the rotor seems way too deep in general...it still hits all the way in the back then grinds...
Any ideas to help?

Re: 04 Rotors on a 02
You dont have to remove the hub, When you have everything removed, rotor and caliper bracket. Take a look at the base of the dust sheild (where it mounts to the "hub") Its just pressed in there, just cut the base of the shield, and the whole thing should just come off (you will be able to bend it off). Or you can try to chisel the base off, then cut it.
On another note, do you have new/used front calipers and caliper brackets from an 04 to replace yours? You cannot use the 04+ rotor with you 02 calipers/brackets.

Re: 04 Rotors on a 02
I tyhink Im a bit confused when it comes to removing the dust shield, got any picutres? Mines got bolts there holding some kind of plate then goes through the dust cover.
I bought 04 slotted rotors all the way around, and then I bought SE-r calipers for the front...so pumped. haha.

Re: 04 Rotors on a 02
My dust shields were removed a long time ago on my car, you should take a picture of yours. They could be a little different than mine. Also, do you have the ser bolts that go through the knuckle to bolt the caliper brackets on, you will most likely need them.

Re: 04 Rotors on a 02
I bought the complete set from RockAuto.com for 283 shipped to my door, I also bought stainless steel brake lines for 88.00 and the 04 rotors for roughly 180 shipped.
The calipers are rebuilt with pads and everything. Comes with calipers and frame, everything I need to bolt right up.

Re: 04 Rotors on a 02
Thats a nice setup. You still need the 4 bolts that bolt the caliper brackets (frames) to the knuckle. Not 100% sure if so on your setup, but i needed them when putting 04 max brakes on my 4th gen.

I think the 02 and 04 frame/knuckle is the same no? Since they're both closely related? I could be completely wrong. Haha.

Re: 04 Rotors on a 02
you will need the parts from a 04-06 maxima
- 2 calipers
-2 caliper mounting brackets
-4 mounting bolts
- 2 rotors
-4 brake pads
the banjo bolts right up
: optional SS lines
my 02 with the calipers and rotors installed with 19 inch wheels.

The bolts thread into the brackets, most likely they are different. On my car they were much larger than my stock bracket bolts.
